    Did You Know …

    Canada Day Edition

Happy Canada Day from your team at AiM Land.

We want to celebrate the day with you by sharing some fun facts about this great country we call home. Here are few things you might not know, and we have more.

    About Canada Day

    1. The word Canada comes from the Huron-Iroquois word “kanata”.
    2. Canada Day was first celebrated on July 1, 1867 but it was called Dominion Day as we were still under British rule.
    3. Canada Day celebrates the day Nova Scotia & New Brunswick, Ontario (then Upper Canada) & Quebec (then lower Canada) came together on July 1, 1867 to form our Constitution Act.
    4. Canada Day officially became a statutory holiday in 1897.
    5. In 1982, or more than 100 years later after the holiday’s first celebration, Dominion Day became known as Canada Day.
