Seabird Island Cultural Training

A great day spent learning on the land with Seabird Island Band.

Recently, our team had the opportunity to participate in Seabird Island cultural training — getting out on the land, listening, learning, and gaining a better understanding of Seabird’s history, culture, connection to the land and water, and the importance of the area to the community.

Days like these are an important reminder that meaningful Indigenous engagement goes well beyond meetings, reports and project requirements. It starts with relationships and with taking the time to understand the places where we work through the perspective of the people who have called them home for generations.

A big thank you to Seabird Island for welcoming us, sharing your knowledge and stories, and taking the time to provide this experience.

And we even had a couple of bald eagles keeping an eye on the training from above — a pretty incredible backdrop for the day.
