Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, as well as Orange Shirt Day.
As we pause and reflect on the history and lasting impacts of residential schools in Canada, we remember and honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors, their families, and the Indigenous communities who continue to be impacted today.
Leading up to today, members of AiM’s Indigenous Relations team recently spent the day at Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park, taking the opportunity to learn, listen and deepen our understanding of Blackfoot history, culture and connection to the land.
Experiences like this provide an important opportunity for our team to continue learning directly from Indigenous perspectives and to reflect on the history and ongoing journey of reconciliation.
As we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we are grateful for the opportunity to continue learning and strengthening the understanding that guides the work we do every day.
